An ASEAN Evening - the theme for this event was the brainchild of Puan Adina Kamaruddin, the Consul General of Malaysia in Frankfurt. As Malaysia is the chairman of ASEAN this year, Puan Adina Kamaruddin thought that it would be a wonderful idea to centre the ball around "a cultural and culinary journey to promote Malaysia and other ASEAN states". To realise this goal, Puan Adina Kamaruddin, who is also the Patron for MCD, worked closely with the MCD Committee headed by Puan Rosita Heilek. Together they created MAGIC that night.
275 guests attended the event. Among the VVIPs were HE Dato' Zulkifli Adnan, the Malaysian Ambassador in Germany and his spouse, Datin Siti Hawa, Johor Delegates; Deputy Speaker of Johor State Government, YB Dato' Haji Baderi Dasuki and his spouse, Johor State Assemblyman YB Encik Raven Kumar Krishnasamy and his spouse, Consul Generals of Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam and spouses. Other guests include Malaysians residing in Germany, Malaysian Consulate personnel and family, guests from the Frankfurt Book Fair and several lucky draw sponsors and spouses.
Dato' Chef Ismail Ahmad, a renowned celebrity chef from Malaysia was flown in by Tourism Malaysia to prepared the sumptuous buffet. Guests were served chicken satay, chicken broth with vegetables, Rendang Tok, Ayam Masak Merah, Dhalcha, Otak-otak, Fried Meehoon, Tomato rice and for dessert, pumpkin in coconut milk and palm sugar.
The night also witnessed colourful performances by the Johor Heritage Foundation dance troupe and cultural groups representing Thailand and Indonesia. The initiative was coordinated by Puan Adina Kamaruddin and her spouse, Encik Mahzan Abdul Samad.
Despite the 6-week deadline, the MCD committee succeeded in securing a total of 45 lucky-draw prizes from 23 sponsors. The top 3 prizes were one Samsung S6 Edge smartphone, 5 hotel stay in 5 Star Hotels for 2 pax and 2 Premium Economy return tickets from Frankfurt to Kuala Lumpur from Lufthansa.
The night was concluded with much gaiety as guests took to the stage to dance. Congratulations to the MCD committee and those who contributed to the success of this event.
